Pilgrim's Pride's employees – our "Partners" -- are proud to be active members of our communities, and they recognize the importance of giving back. Each year, they give countless hours of their time to organizations, causes and projects that improve the quality of life where they live and work.
Pilgrim’s Pride sponsors Company and Community Pride (CCP) Teams at most of our U.S. locations, comprised of employee volunteers who are committed to making a difference, and has also donated approximately $3.6 million to support hunger relief, charitable causes and local non-profit organizations in the areas where our facilities are located.
Partners Nationwide Support the American Cancer Society
In what has become a longstanding tradition, Pilgrim’s Pride Partners step forward each year to raise money for cancer research and honor the survivors and victims of cancer by participating in American Cancer Society Relay for Life events in our communities.
For months preceding the events, Partners are busy raising funds through chicken sales, bake sales, auctions, dunking booths and all sorts of fun activities, and their efforts have paid off. This year, 10 sites reported contributions totaling more than $78,000.
After all this work, Partners from Texas to Virginia walk all through the night at Relay events to honor their fellow Partners, friends and family members who have been affected by cancer.

Partners Show Creativity, Community Spirit
Despite the current economic conditions facing our company and our industry , Pilgrim's Pride Partners are still finding ways to positively affect their communities. Here are a few examples of creative projects our Partners have been involved in over the last several months.

The Gainesville, Ga., Company and Community Pride (CCP) Team held a its Rooster Classic Golf Tournament, which raised $4,895 for the American Heart Association of Hall County.

Partners with the CCP Team in Marshville, N.C., went to a local nursing home last March and delivered Easter bags to 120 residents.

A softball tournament, held in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, raised nearly $4,000 for the Angel Tree Program, which provides clothing and toys for needy children. The Topp Dawgs, consisting of Partners from various East Texas locations including the Mt. Pleasant and Dallas plants, won for the second year in a row.
Cancer Center Already Having an Impact
The Patty and Bo Pilgrim Cancer Center, located in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, has only been open since April, and it’s already exceeding expectations.
"We are already at the level now that we thought we'd be at in December," said Duane Shafer, chief financial officer for Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC). As of late July, the cancer center was treating an average of 34 chemotherapy and 24 radiation therapy patients a week.
Community support has also been tremendous. In 2006, the Pilgrim family and Pilgrim’s Pride each donated $1 million towards the center. Individuals and organizations throughout the community pitched in to cover the rest of the costs, an additional $1.9 million.
